IMMUNE BOOST SMOOTHIE

Kale, Banana, Orange and Blueberries w/ Chocolate Vega Protein, Spirulina, Flax Seeds & Chia Seeds

Don’t wait to get sick before you decide to do something about it. If you’re eating poorly, drinking too much alcohol and/or smoking cigarettes on a daily basis you are already opening yourself up to a world of bacteria and viruses that will eventually catch up to you. And going to the doctor for antibiotics will just add more insult to injury. Your body simply does not want those chemicals inside of it and your internal organs will suffer the cost now and worsen as you get older. You can blame your cold on your kid’s “germy” play dates or whatever but the reality is that if you’re not taking care of your body in the first place, you will get sick more often and have nobody to blame but yourself. The idea here is PREVENTION. If you have a good diet and are detoxing often, your immune system will be strong and your body will be able to fight off bacteria more easily. It’s science! Here’s a very tasty smoothie recipe that will help super charge your immune system in the ongoing fight against disease.

8 oz. Filtered Water
1 large handful of fresh Baby Kale
1 frozen Banana (peeled before freezing)
1 Orange
1 large handful of frozen blueberries
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
1 tbsp Flax Seeds
1 tsp Spirulina Powder (Blue Green Algae)
1 scoop Vega Protein Powder (I used Choc-a-lat)

Add 8oz of filtered water to your blender along with the fresh kale. Blend on “liquify” setting for about 1 minute (or until the consistency is just green water). Now add in your frozen fruits, the Orange and blend on “Crush Ice” setting until it sounds as if there is nothing being crushed anymore and then switch to “liquify” setting (about another 1-2 minutes). Add in the Chia Seeds, Flax Seeds, Spirulina and Vega Protein and blend (on liquify setting) one more time for another 1-2 minutes. Pour into a large, tall glass. CLEAN UP BEFORE DRINKING (this reenforces good habits and a new regimen). Enjoy your smoothie w/ your favorite straw…I recommend a glass one from GlassDharma.

This recipe makes 1 large serving (about 16oz) or 2 small servings (about 8oz each).
