Green with Envy

Green Bell Pepper, Cucumber, White Carrot, Parsley, Lemon, Hemp Oil

For this green juice I decided to go in a completely different direction as I would normally. I’ve always shied away from juices that are too “savory”. Usually needing an apple, orange, etc to sweeten things up a bit. This time around I forced myself to try something more experimental. I saw a Green Pepper in my fridge and thought, why not? Packed with Vitamins A, B6, C and E…great for reducing bad cholesterol, controls diabetes, brings relief from pain and eases inflammation. I also had some Curly Parsley growing in a pot outside, so I grabbed a huge bunch of that as well. Parsley is rich in Vitamin C, B 12, K and A. It keeps your immune system strong, tones your bones and also heals the nervous system.

To seal the deal, I thought I’d add some fat into my juice, since I’ve gone 4 days on my fast without. I immediately thought of Hemp Oil. The rich, dark color would really go well in this juice. It has a subtle nutty flavor that will offset the herbal flavors already in this juice. Cold pressed Hemp Oil is one of the richest plant-based sources of fiber, a complete protein, contains the perfect balance of essential fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6, and is full of anti-oxidants. In fact, the proteins in hemp seeds are more readily absorbed by the body than the protein from meat or protein powders? And not to worry…Hemp and Marijuana are completely different animals entirely. It is not a drug and will not provide any psychoactive affects. Unfortunately, these kind of assumptions are what keep people from trying it (and also maybe why some DO try it..hahaha).

This juice is very mellow and mild. A little tangy from the lemon and somewhat “herby”. To my surprise, I loved this juice and will be making it more often. This recipe yields about 16oz of juice (1 large serving).

1 large Green Bell Pepper (seeded and quartered)
1 White Carrot
1/2 English Cucumber
1 large bunch of Parsley
1/2 Lemon (with peel on)
1 tbsp Cold-Pressed Hemp Oil (stir in after juicing everything else)

Wash all ingredients well and prep for juicing. Juice all in your Juice Extractor. CLEAN YOUR JUICER AND AREA BEFORE DRINKING. Enjoy!
