This morning was a bit crazy…I had woken up with the idea of relaxing and going easy for the start of my long holiday weekend. Unfortunately, I realized I was late for an important appointment. I looked at my clock and realized that the appointment was supposed to be happening NOW! I jumped into some clothes, brushed my teeth ever so violently and then proceeded down to the kitchen to figure out my meal plan for what could be the next 6 hours or so (as I would be on the go all day). I quickly made a cup of hot lemon water, grabbed a Raw Blueberry Granola bar, a Nectarine and some mixed Organic Nuts. That would all be good for later…but what about now? I setup my blender, paused to meditate on the combo and then sprung into action! I needed an energy packed protein smoothie, and that is what I made (in like 3 minutes flat, mind you). I packed up all my food and water along with my laptop and ran out the door. When I got in the car, I basically took down my lemon water in one gulp and then unscrewed the cap off of my smoothie. I took a good sip of it and was immediately happy. Thick, sweet and nutty and screaming with blueberries. This is one damned good smoothie…I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

10 oz of Coconut Water (or filtered water, or nut milk)
1 frozen Banana
1 Cup Frozen Blueberries
1 scoop Vega Smoothie Powder (Viva Vanilla)
1 tsp of Maca Powder
2 Tbsp of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter

Add 10oz of Coconut Water to your blender. Add frozen banana and Blueberries. Blend on “Crush Ice” setting until it sounds as if there is nothing being crushed anymore and then switch to “liquify” setting (about another 1-2 minutes). Add in the Vega Protein, Maca Powder and Almond Butter. Blend (on liquify setting) one more time for another 1-2 minutes (you can add more coconut water if too thick). Pour into a large, tall glass (or 16 oz Mason Jar if on the go). CLEAN UP BEFORE DRINKING (this reenforces good habits and a new regimen). Enjoy your smoothie w/ your favorite straw; although, for Earth’s sake, I recommend a glass one from Glass Dharma
