Green Tropical Berry Smoothie

When I was making a produce run yesterday, I found some “Non-GMO” Papaya which is a very rare find where I live. According to Yoga Blog, Papaya is #10 on the list of GMO crops. See the whole list here: I’ve been juicing and doing smoothies now for over 6 months and this is the first time I’ve actually included Papaya into the mix. It is extremely important for me to buy only Organic or Non-GMO certified produce. I just spent so much time and hard work detoxifying my body, I refuse to reverse it all again by re-toxifying it. And it’s not only the highly toxic pesticides and preservatives that we need to watch out for anymore. “BIG FOOD COMPANIES” are using science to genetically alter our food (as nature DID NOT intend). This change in the genetic makeup of these produce can make them resistant to certain factors such as weather, insects, pesticides, shelf life, etc. It is a corporate tactic in order to save money, produce more food  and distribute it quicker and in climates that were not possible before. This all sounds great, right? More food choices for us? We’ll, not for the people who are actually buying and eating these “Franken-Foods”. The FDA is still doing their damndest (along with Monsanto and other conglomerates) to ignore the facts that these foods can make us sick and cause serious disease in the long run. They found their golden ticket and they don’t care who suffers because of it. Very similar to what the pharmaceutical industry has done with “medicine”. I don’t know about you but I would rather see my fruits and vegetables rotting normally…if an Apple is still looking good after 2 months of sitting on your counter, that can’t be good.

Well, now that I’ve bummed you out enough…this completely Organic and Non-GMO Tropical Smoothie will knock your socks off; I still can’t find mine!

(All fruits are Organic/Non-GMO which I’ve prepared and frozen prior to blending. If your fruits are not frozen, you can use ice in your smoothie)
8 – 10 oz of Filtered Water (or Coconut water, or nut milk)
2 handfuls of Fresh Baby Leaf Greens (Spinach, Kale, Chard)
1 frozen Banana
1/2 Cup Frozen Papaya chunks
1/2 Cup Frozen Mango chunks
1/2 Cup Frozen Green Apple chunks
1 scoop Vega Smoothie Powder (Bodacious Berry)
1 tsp Maca Root Powder
1 Tbsp Chia Seed
1 small handful of Coconut Flakes

Add 10 oz of filtered water to your blender along with the fresh greens. Blend on “liquify” setting for about 1 minute (or until the consistency is just green water). Now add in your frozen fruits and blend on “Crush Ice” setting until it sounds as if there is nothing being crushed anymore and then switch to “liquify” setting (about another 1-2 minutes). Add in the Chia Seeds, Maca Powder, Vega Protein and half of the Coconut Flakes. Blend (on liquify setting) one more time for another 1-2 minutes. Pour into a large, tall glass. Sprinkle the rest of the Coconut Flakes on your finished Smoothie. Garnish with a sprinkle of Raw Cacao Powder (if desired). CLEAN UP BEFORE DRINKING (this reenforces good habits and a new regimen). Enjoy your smoothie w/ your favorite straw; although, for Earth’s sake, I recommend a glass one from Glass Dharma
