GREEN PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

WATER, SPRING MIX (TANGO, LOLLA ROSA, RED & GREEN ROMAINE, RED & GREEN OAK LEAF, RED & GREEN CHARD, SPINACH, MIZUNA, RADICCHIO, FRISEE, BEET GREENS, ARUGULA, TAT SOI, RED MUSTARD GREENS), BABY KALE, BANANA, MANGO, KIWI, VANILLA VEGA PROTEIN, SPIRULINA, CHIA SEEDS AND FLAX SEEDS

Hopefully the huge list of ingredients doesn’t throw you off from trying this one. Don’t fret because all those greens listed above can be purchased as one organic blend called “Spring Mix”; which I’m sure you’ve at least heard of or have eaten in your salads many times. Morning smoothies are one of the best ways to get in your greens, so I thought why not PACK it with complete proteins, iron, vitamins A & C and calcium. Long dead are the days when we thought you could only get calcium from a dairy source and iron from beef…more meat and dairy industry propaganda. In fact, calcium and iron…come from the ground. And since plant based calcium is bound with other minerals, vitamins, proteins and phytonutrients, it is a more healthy and easily absorbed form of calcium than it’s meat and dairy counterpart. All that said, EAT YOUR GREENS!!!! (or drink them)

10 oz of Filtered Water
1 handful of Spring Mix Greens
1 handful of Baby Kale leaves
1 frozen Banana
1/2 Cup Mango (peeled and chopped)
2 Kiwi Fruits (peeled)
4 Ice Cubes
1 scoop Vega Smoothie Powder (Vanilla or Berry)
1 tsp Spirulina Powder
3 tsp Hemp Powder
1 Tbsp Chia Seed
1 Tbsp Flax Seed or Flax Meal

Add 10 oz of filtered water to your blender along with all of the greens. Blend on “liquify” setting for about 1 minute (or until the consistency is just green water). Now add in your fruits and ice cubes; blend on “Crush Ice” setting until it sounds as if there is nothing being crushed anymore and then switch to “liquify” setting (about another 1-2 minutes). Add in the Chia Seeds, Flax Seeds, Spirulina, Hemp and Vega Protein. Blend (on liquify setting) one more time for another 1-2 minutes. Pour into a large, tall glass. CLEAN UP BEFORE DRINKING (this reenforces good habits and a new regimen).
