PURPLE DRAGON (Blueberry Dragonfruit Almond Acai Smoothie)

This smoothie is not only very tasty and filled with protein, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients…but it’s also packed with Antioxidants. “Antioxidant” is a buzzword which has created a great stronghold on the the health community. They are the natural chemicals found in fruits and vegetables that hunt down and destroy free radicals which cause harm to our cells. A scientific debate still rings on concerning the degree to which antioxidant benefits may or may not have on various diseases, although, much evidence has shown that the development of certain cancers (and other diseases) can be linked directly to free radical cell damage. In any case, antioxidants are a good thing.

We do know that antioxidants are instrumental in protecting our cells which, in turn, are a required tool in preventing disease. So, for me, the debate stops there. If we can heal and prevent cell damage with antioxidants, then we’re therefore preventing disease from occurring. Simple as that. Lets not dwell on the hype surrounding the antioxidant debate; lets just get them into our bodies and let reality be the proof.
